Reiki is an ancient Japanese hands on healing art
The word ‘Reiki’ roughly translates as ‘spiritually guided life force energy’
Rei meaning of a higher power/from God and ‘Ki’ being the life force energy of which we are all made.
While reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion and there is nothing you need to believe or learn in order for the treatment to work for you.
The practitioner has received attunements from a Master Teacher which enables them to tap into this life force energy and direct it at will.
I received my attunements from the Mikao Usui lineage.
Mikao Usui was a Buddhist Monk who was spiritually guided to develop this practice during meditation in the early 20th Century.
Reiki is a non-invasive treatment where the client remains fully clothed either sitting or lying and the practitioner can channel healing energy through the hands, sometimes in a sequence of hand positions and sometimes intuitively.
It is strongly advised that all clients continue with any medication /medical treatment they are currently receiving and should always consult with their doctor if considering a change to this.
Reiki practitioners are not doctors and make no claims to cure any mental/physical health problems.
Reiki has its own intelligence and I like to think of it as one of the wisest therapists you’ll ever meet as it knows exactly what you need at any time and will always work for your highest good.
Some people feel a whole range of sensations and some people don’t feel much at all but it’s always working.
